Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bartosz Gajtkowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erwin Rommel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rommel is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by stereo mcs- connected. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Erwin Rommel! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rommel misses with a two punch combination.
Gajtkowski leaves Rommel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Rommel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gajtkowski avoids it really well and circles away. Gajtkowski feints a jab promting Rommel to slip. Gajtkowski then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rommel slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Nice body punch from Gajtkowski. Gajtkowski stuffs the takedown attempt from Rommel. Rommel gets slowly back to his feet. Bartosz Gajtkowski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erwin Rommel. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rommel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gajtkowski pinned against the ropes. Gajtkowski gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gajtkowski is looking for a counter combo. Rommel dodges the punch combination from Gajtkowski.

Rommel is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Rommel tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Gajtkowski parries the strikes from Rommel easily there. Rommel is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gajtkowski to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gajtkowski is looking to reverse the position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Rommel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gajtkowski, who protects the arm well. Gajtkowski tries to bench press Rommel off him but Rommel keeps the position. Gajtkowski is working hard here to advance position. Gajtkowski is not content to let Rommel control the position. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Gajtkowski is looking to regain half guard here but Rommel keeps moving and retains side control.

Rommel works his foot free and advances to mount. Rommel prevents Gajtkowski from getting the reversal. Gajtkowski regains half guard. Gajtkowski actively working from the bottom here. Gajtkowski is staying active underneath Rommel, who seems content to just control the action from this position. That was a close round but I would say that Bartosz Gajtkowski will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Bartosz Gajtkowski is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rommel scores with a takedown into Gajtkowski's guard. Gajtkowski keeping full guard, as Rommel tries to pass. Rommel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rommel wants to control from the top but Gajtkowski keeps moving. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Rommel won't allow Gajtkowski to sweep him here. Gajtkowski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rommel swivels though and keeps the full guard. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Rommel striking off his back but it's not causing Gajtkowski any problems. Gajtkowski advances position into side control! Sloppy strikes there by Gajtkowski. Gajtkowski is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rommel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. This has been an exciting period of action! Rommel tries to improve position but can't.

Rommel tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Rommel gets a double leg takedown into Gajtkowski's guard. No, Rommel has managed to get both his arms back between Gajtkowski's legs - danger averted. Gajtkowski seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gajtkowski wants to sweep here but Rommel controlling him for the moment. Rommel pushes down on Gajtkowski's leg and manages to get into half guard. Gajtkowski on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Nice strikes from Rommel there. Rommel passes the guard and advances to mount! Gajtkowski defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rommel.

Rommel manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gajtkowski to take his back! Gajtkowski tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Gajtkowski is trying to escape the mount.

Rommel trying to control the action but Gajtkowski is working from the bottom. Gajtkowski tries to roll over but Rommel keeps him under control. Gajtkowski moves into full guard.
Rommel wants to control from the top but Gajtkowski keeps moving. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gajtkowski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rommel's guard.
Erwin Rommel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rommel is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bartosz Gajtkowski. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gajtkowski, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
