PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aatish Sunuwar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neil Murray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sunuwar comes into the arena with Peace Sells blaring out of the sound system. Aatish Sunuwar has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aatish Sunuwar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Neil Murray!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murray dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sunuwar gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Murray pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Murray moves away from the strike by Sunuwar.
Murray looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Murray throws a jab but it's blocked by Sunuwar.
Murray throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sunuwar throws a big counter combination but Murray scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Sunuwar pivots, looking for a leg kick but Murray is out of range and Sunuwar settles back down.
Sunuwar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Murray digs a good hook to Sunuwar's body.
Sunuwar lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
A telegraphed right hand from Murray misses the target.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sunuwar fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Murray looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Murray swings for the body but Sunuwar moves out of range.
Murray misses with a straight right.
Sunuwar blocks a jab.
Sunuwar lands with a nice body punch.
Murray dodges the punch combination from Sunuwar.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Murray swings for the body but Sunuwar moves out of range.
Sunuwar connects with a body shot that sends Murray's belly button to the back.

Sunuwar closes the distance and clinches.
Sunuwar swings wildly with an uppercut but Murray uses good head movement to avoid it.

Sunuwar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sunuwar throws a lazy right hand but Murray sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Murray thows a left - swing and a miss!
Sunuwar throws a big counter combination but Murray scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
A punch combination from Sunuwar misses.
Murray with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sunuwar to score with a decent uppercut.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sunuwar, right into the meat.
Sunuwar throws a right hand that Murray ducks under and follows up with a left that Murray also avoids with ease.
Murray throws a body punch but Sunuwar moves out of range.
Sunuwar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Murray.
Nice defenses there by Sunuwar.
Sunuwar throws a big shot that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A good leg kick by Sunuwar.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sunuwar is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Murray.
Murray misses with a body shot.
Sunuwar fails in his attempt to clinch.

Sunuwar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Murray, pushing him back against the cage.
Murray blocks a body shot from Sunuwar.

Sunuwar pulls guard successfully.
Sunuwar wants to sweep here but Murray controlling him for the moment.
Sunuwar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sunuwar looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Sunuwar looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sunuwar seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Murray wants to stand but Sunuwar is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Murray not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sloppy strikes from Sunuwar. Those never looked like landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sunuwar moves out of range as Murray strikes.
Sunuwar catches Murray with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Sunuwar looks to clinch
and Murray counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

A jab-cross combination lands for Sunuwar and sends Murray crashing to the mat! Sunuwar follows him down to the mat - Murray regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Murray is rocked!


It looks like Neil Murray has been cut.
Sunuwar content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Murray is still in real trouble! Can Sunuwar finish him?
Sunuwar tries to pass to full mount but Murray defends it.
Sunuwar prevents Murray from standing back up.
Sunuwar passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Murray!

Sunuwar stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Sunuwar lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Murray is looking to close the distance but Sunuwar sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Murray crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Murray is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Aatish Sunuwar!
Aatish Sunuwar seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
