PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank McAfee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frank McAfee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cameron Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McAfee misses with a wild combination.
McAfee listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

McAfee has Wallace up against the cage in a clinch.
McAfee throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Wallaces head.
Wallace with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Wallace misses with a knee to the head.
McAfee takes a knee right on the jaw!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McAfee lands a body shot in the clinch.
Wallace looking to throw knees to the head but McAfee is blocking nicely.
Wallace misses with the head strike.
Wallace with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
McAfee takes a knee right on the jaw!
McAfee wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Wallace throws a punch but it's blocked by McAfee.
McAfee can't get the takedown.
Wallace landing knees to the head.
McAfee content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Wallace tries a knee to the head but McAfee blocks it.
McAfee jumps guard but Wallace turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Wallace misses with a knee to the head.

McAfee breaks from the clinch.
Wallace blocks a head kick by McAfee.
McAfee avoids the head kick by Wallace.
McAfee blocks a head kick by Wallace.
Frank McAfee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McAfee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

McAfee closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Wallace on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wallace throws an elbow but it's blocked.
A hook to the body from McAfee.
Wallace lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of McAfee backwards.
McAfee wants to get back to striking at distance but Wallace won't allow it.

McAfee decides to pull guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McAfee not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wallace is looking to work some ground and pound but McAfee has wrist control.
McAfee is trying to control the position but Wallace postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wallace throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Wallace really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McAfee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wallace postures up in McAfee's guard and throws a big left but McAfee blocks it.
McAfee trying to keep a closed guard but Wallace is proving a slippery customer.
Wallace pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McAfee is keeping the position for now.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

McAfee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wallace doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wallace manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wallace has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing McAfee to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Wallace is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - McAfee pulls down on the head and he's put Wallace to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Frank McAfee!
