Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shogan Aye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georgy Fokin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shogan Aye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Georgy Fokin!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aye does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Fokin misses with a takedown attempt - Aye sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jab by Fokin.
Fokin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Aye half committed to a counter leg kick.
Aye seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Aye scores with a body shot.
Fokin listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Fokin wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Fokin, as that shot connected.

and Fokin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Fokin cracks the inside of Aye's front leg.
Georgy Fokin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aye throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Aye walks into a jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A clash of legs there as Fokin blocks the low kick.
Aye takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Aye ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fokin jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

It looks like Georgy Fokin has been cut.
Aye slips a straight right by Fokin.
Aye misses with a leg kick
and Fokin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Aye tries to score with a low kick but Fokin moves his leg out of the way.

Aye scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fokin takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fokin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Aye manages to get himself to full guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fokin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Aye does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

My spies in Gym Beam inform me that Fokin has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Aye tries to get to full guard but Fokin has control of the leg.
Aye won't allow Fokin to pass to mount.
Fokin looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Aye is looking for a sweep. Fokin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Fokin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Aye to the ground. Fokin is now in Aye's guard.

Aye working for submissions but it's allowed Fokin to get to half guard.

Aye tries to roll over but Fokin keeps him under control.
Fokin slows the pace down in half guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Aye tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A big left from Fokin misses.
Aye takes a swing at Fokin's ribcage but misses.
Fokin misses with an uppercut.
Aye ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fokin moves away.
Fokin feints the counter takedown.
Fokin looks to throw the jab but Aye is out of range.
Aye feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Fokin misses with a wild body shot.
Aye takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Fokin punishes Aye's body with a nice straight punch.
Aye takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Fokin cracks Aye with an open hand slap.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aye misses the shot to the body.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Fokin! But no joy.
Fokin jabs at Aye's body.

Aye throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Fokin throws out a counter right but Aye avoids it with no problem.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Aye takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Aye slips a straight right by Fokin.
Georgy Fokin seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Aye has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Aye there as he acknowledges the shot.
Fokin blocks a low kick nicely.
Fokin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Aye feints and as Fokin raises his hands in defense, Aye changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fokin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fokin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aye is one step ahead there.
Fokin trying to keep a closed guard but Aye is proving a slippery customer.
Aye is fighting to break Fokin's control of his arms but Fokin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Fokin wants to control the position but Aye says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Aye thows a huge punch but Fokin dodges it nicely.
Fokin works his way to full guard. Good work.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fokin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Fokin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Aye is looking to control Fokin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Aye avoid being mounted?

Fokin is trying to control the action in half guard but Aye is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Fokin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Aye sees it coming and defends easily.
Fokin works his way into side control.
You can see the frustration on Aye's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Aye tries to buck Fokin off but Fokin is having none of it.
Aye is not content to let Fokin control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Georgy Fokin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Fokin with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Aye throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Aye moves away from the strike by Fokin.
Fokin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Fokin comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Fokin scores with the left hand. Aye knows he should have avoided that one.
Fokin throws a good cross that connects.
Fokin cracks a nice hook into Aye's ribs.
Fokin misses with a hook.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fokin cracks Aye with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Fokin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Aye tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fokin was well out of range. Poor timing from Aye.
Aye needs to keep his hands up - Fokin had a free shot at his head there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Aye lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Fokin throws a chopping leg kick but Aye manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Aye is looking to wear down Fokin with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Aye throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Fokin lunges at Aye with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Aye's hand.
Fokin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Aye lands with a thumping leg kick.
Fokin cracks Aye with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Aye throws a body shot but no joy.
Fokin lands with a good body shot.
Fokin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Aye.
Fokin looks to throw the jab but Aye is out of range.
Fokin looks to land a left hand but Aye moved out of range nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from Aye. Fokin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Fokin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Aye stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Aye throws a quick inside leg kick.
Fokin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fokin getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice takedown defense from Aye. No joy for Fokin on that attempt.
Aye fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Fokin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Fokin lands a nice hook to Aye's body. Aye takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Aye fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Fokin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Aye takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Aye works Fokin's body with a nice hook.
Aye throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Fokin just misses with a punch to the body.
Aye changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Shogan Aye has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Aye looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Shogan Aye has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Georgy Fokin.

I would just about give that final round to Georgy Fokin.
Well Fokin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
