PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kees Flodder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Milat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kees Flodder!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ivan Milat!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Milat lands a jab to Flodder's midsection.
Flodder's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Milat connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Flodder scrambles back to his feet.
Milat scores with a head kick.
Milat lands a nice looking body kick.
Milat bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Flodder misses with the combination.
Milat has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Flodder is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Ivan Milat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Flodder looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
A punch lands to the side of Flodder 's head but he takes it in his stride.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Milat swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Flodder counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Flodder swings for the body but Milat moves out of range.
Milat wants to counter the offense by Flodder and move into the clinch position.
Milat misses with a low kick.
Milat swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Milat fails to land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Flodder steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Milat. That one must have hurt.
Flodder lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Milat lands the left hand.
A looping hook to the body misses from Milat. Flodder does a little dance to reset his feet.
Flodder throws a right and a left that both miss.
A slapping body kick lands there for Milat.
Milat wants to clinch

and Flodder counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Milat down! Flodder is looking to finish but Milat is intelligently defending himself.


Milat is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Milat keeping moving, preventing Flodder from controlling successfully.
Milat is still in real trouble! Can Flodder finish him?
Flodder won't allow Milat to get back to his feet.
Milat seems to have recovered his senses.
Milat is pulling down on Flodder's head to control his posture.
Flodder looking to pass the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Flodder is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Milat pulls Flodder in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Milat not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Milat is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Flodder throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Milat.
Milat fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Milat.
A nice leg kick lands there from Milat.
Milat bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Flodder throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Milat sees it coming and avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Milat uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Flodder.
Flodder checks the leg kick nicely there.
Flodder attempts a counter takedown but Milat avoids it well and moves away.
Milat throws a nice head kick!
Milat throws a body kick that misses.
Milat throws a head kick that Flodder semi-blocks.
A cross from Milat lands.
Milat comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Milat fails to land with a series of punches.
Jab by Milat.
Flodder swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Milat throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Flodder is looking for a counter combo.
A nice inside leg kick there by Milat. That's going to slow Flodder down.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Milat fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Flodder checks it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A low kick from Milat is predictable there
and Flodder counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Good exchange - Milat coming out on top.
Flodder tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Flodder blocks a head kick by Milat.
A chopping leg kick lands by Milat.
Milat lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


Flodder is rocked!
Milat keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Flodder.
Oh Flodder is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Flodder swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Milat! Flodder is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ivan Milat!

An out of breath Ivan Milat thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
