Zaromskis comes to the cage accompanied by Moment of Peace. Darabedyan is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by KDB Highlights. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
30 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Martin Zaromskis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karen Darabedyan! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Darabedyan blocks the body kick.
Darabedyan throws a leg kick but Zaromskis sees it coming and checks it nicely. Zaromskis changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Darabedyan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Karen Darabedyan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Zaromskis throws a front kick aimed at Darabedyan's knee but Darabedyan avoids it well. Darabedyan swinging wildly here.
Zaromskis misses with a few strikes there.
Zaromskis slips a jab and a cross from Darabedyan.
And Zaromskis counters with a quick kick to the body but Darabedyan blocks it. Darabedyan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Zaromskis counters with a shoot takedown. Darabedyan fights it but they end up in guard. Zaromskis passes Darabedyan's left leg - he's now in half guard. Zaromskis is pressing down on Darabedyan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Darabedyan is holding on for now. Zaromskis controlling the pace. Zaromskis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zaromskis prevents Darabedyan from standing back up.
Zaromskis is trying to control the action in half guard but Darabedyan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Zaromskis looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Zaromskis works his way into side control. Darabedyan wants to get back to his feet but Zaromskis drags him back down. That's two minutes gone in the round. Zaromskis is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Darabedyan knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Darabedyan for a finish. Darabedyan is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Zaromskis off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. I really don't envy Darabedyan right now.
Zaromskis lands an elbow to the side of the head. Zaromskis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Zaromskis controlling the position well here. Darabedyan rolled but Zaromskis kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Darabedyan told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
