Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodney Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elvis Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rodney Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elvis Wong!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Wong misses with a kick to the body.
Wong with a nice cross.
Smith throws a front kick that sends Wong stumbling back into the cage.
Wong looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Smith is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Wong.
Wong moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Smith leaves Wong with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith scores with the left hand. Wong knows he should have avoided that one.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wong moves away.
Wong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Smith takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Wong is trying to get back to half guard.

Smith goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Wong has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Smith but great work by Wong.
Wong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith tries to buck Wong off but Wong is having none of it.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wong defends it easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Wong must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Wong bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.


Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Wong is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.

Wong closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Wong pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Wong throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Smith misses with a lunging right hand
and Wong counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Smith connects with a leg kick. Wong looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Smith motions for Wong to come forward. Smith throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Smith wants to clinch up but Wong keeps it at a distance.

Smith swings for the body but Wong moves out of range.

enabling Wong to counter with a crisp jab.

A little feinted left hand from Smith on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Smith has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Wong.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Wong.
Smith dives in for a single leg takedown but Wong sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
And Wong tries to counter it with a takedown but Smith pushes his down on his head and steps out.

A frustrated look appears on Wong's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Wong manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Smith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wong manages to get himself to full guard.

Wong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Wong is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Smith dives into side control.

Smith tries for a kimura but Wong is defending well.
Smith connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Wong some visible discomfort.
Wong is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Smith off and has taken his back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith avoids the strikes from Wong.
Smith can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Elvis Wong will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Smith's corner calls for a 1-2. Smith obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wong sprawls well. Wong wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.

Smith takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Smith needs to keep his hands up - Wong had a free shot at his head there.

Smith seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Wong for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smith is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Wong!
Wong is trying desperately to improve position.
Wong tries to hold on but Smith postures up.
Smith pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rodney Smith.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Rodney Smith decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
