Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Qfc Challenger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clonius Gilpho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Qfc Challenger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Clonius Gilpho! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gilpho fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Challenger looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Challenger with a poor takedown and Gilpho cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Challenger with a lazy takedown attempt and Gilpho counters with a lovely straight right hand! Gilpho should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Challenger fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gilpho manages to avoid it. Challenger with a poor takedown and Gilpho cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Qfc Challenger. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gilpho lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Gilpho enables Challenger to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gilpho manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Gilpho looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gilpho had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Challenger defends it easily. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gilpho can do anything to dispel that myth. Gilpho pulls Challenger in to control the position. Challenger missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Challenger tries to free his leg and advance position but Gilpho is retaining full guard. Challenger is fighting to break Gilpho's control of his arms but Gilpho is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gilpho is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. The crowd cheers as Gilpho lands an impressive looking overhand right. Challenger doesn't seem phased though. Challenger shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Gilpho connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Gilpho scores with a one two! Challenger had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Challenger throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gilpho keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Challenger shoots in and gets a takedown into Gilpho's guard. Gilpho really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Challenger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Challenger looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Gilpho trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Challenger is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Gilpho is trying to control the position but Challenger postures up. Challenger is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gilpho working a defensive guard here.
Gilpho looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Challenger is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Challenger working some strikes from top position. Challenger is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Challenger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Challenger is working Gilpho over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gilpho keeping moving, preventing Challenger from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Challenger is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gilpho is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Challenger with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Challenger stands up over Gilpho, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Challenger keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gilpho's head. Challenger trying to control the position from guard on top but Gilpho is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gilpho controls Challenger momentarily but Challenger frees himself. Challenger lands a couple of decent looking shots. Challenger is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Challenger advances position into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Challenger tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gilpho's legs. Gilpho is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Challenger has hold of Gilpho's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gilpho tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Challenger cranks the arm and Gilpho screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gilpho, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Qfc Challenger!
