PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Angola Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Humberto Villegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly theme. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Angola Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Humberto Villegas!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Villegas.

Bob tries to clinch there but Villegas circles away.
Villegas throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bob stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Villegas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Villegas jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bob manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Bob tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Villegas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Villegas is looking for a kimura but Bob is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Villegas to get the leverage.

Villegas has gone for a leg lock! Bob slips out almost immediately though and dives into Villegas's guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Villegas had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bob is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Villegas Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bob's back instead.

Bob tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Villegas goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Bob is on top in guard.

Villegas has his foot on Bob's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bob works his way back into a safe position though.
Bob slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Villegas is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Bob still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Bob has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Bob has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bob, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
