Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mati Krol! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Henry Honeycutt! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Honeycutt shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Honeycutt was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Honeycutt looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Honeycutt is looking to take a break and control but Krol is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Krol manages to get back to half guard. Honeycutt looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Krol really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Honeycutt stalling away here and it's allowed Krol to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Honeycutt postures up in Krol's guard and throws a big left but Krol blocks it. Krol looking for a sweep. Not yet Krol, not yet. Honeycutt wants to control from the top but Krol keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Krol throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Krol is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Honeycutt trying to control the position from guard on top but Krol is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Krol throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Krol is on top in guard.
Krol throws an elbow that misses. Honeycutt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Krol's guard. Nice move by Honeycutt! Honeycutt slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Honeycutt is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Krol knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Krol is trying to control Honeycutt's posture but Honeycutt avoids it. Krol is breathing heavily. Honeycutt has hold of Krol's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Krol tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Honeycutt cranks the arm and Krol screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Krol, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Henry Honeycutt!
