Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Larry Carey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pier Olivier Thibodeau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Larry Carey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pier Olivier Thibodeau! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thibodeau gets in close and instigates a clinch. Thibodeau wants to break free but Carey has control.
Carey tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Thibodeau smiles and moves away.
Thibodeau shoots for a takedown but Carey saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Carey misses with a straight right. An inside leg kick from Thibodeau misses. Carey throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Thibodeau will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Carey half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Thibodeau fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carey, pushing him back against the cage. Carey tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carey fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Larry Carey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carey jumps guard and drags Thibodeau to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Carey controls Thibodeau momentarily but Thibodeau frees himself. Thibodeau preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thibodeau content to stall in guard here. Thibodeau throws a big elbow that misses. Thibodeau won't allow Carey to sweep him here. Thibodeau trying to control but Carey is working from the bottom. Carey looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Carey being controlled here, momentarily.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Carey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carey stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carey wants it to stay on the feet. Carey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Thibodeau trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Poor strikes thrown by Carey there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Carey misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Carey is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Thibodeau has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Thibodeau!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thibodeau won't allow Carey to sweep him here. Thibodeau trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Carey manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thibodeau keeping moving, preventing Carey from controlling successfully. Carey with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Carey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Thibodeau thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Carey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thibodeau works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Thibodeau not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Carey is looking to work some ground and pound but Thibodeau has wrist control. Carey's corner is telling him to maintain position. Thibodeau is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carey defends well. Carey is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Thibodeau utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Carey scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Carey trying to control but Thibodeau is working from the bottom.

Thibodeau gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Thibodeau gets control of Carey's arms and successfully pulls guard. Thibodeau will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Carey throws a strike but Thibodeau rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Carey looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thibodeau is one step ahead there. That's one minute gone in the round. Carey engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Carey stands up from Thibodeau's guard - Carey perhaps looking for a knockout. Carey scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Thibodeau is looking to get back to his feet here but Carey is keeping cool and he's managed to take Thibodeau's back. Thibodeau trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carey is looking for the choke from the back position but Thibodeau is controlling his hands well. Thibodeau trying to control the position but Carey manages to sink in the hooks. Carey cracks Thibodeau with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Thibodeau from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Carey is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Thibodeau can do to turn this around? Carey tightening his grip on Thibodeau, looking for the choke. You can see the frustration on Thibodeau's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Thibodeau has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Carey is defending well against a takedown attempt. Larry Carey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pier Olivier Thibodeau. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Thibodeau. Carey pulls guard effortlessly. Carey seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Larry Carey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Thibodeau postures up.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Carey has had enough of the clinch but Thibodeau keeps him there for the moment. Carey tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Thibodeau just stands there and leans against the cage. Carey misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Thibodeau.
A nice left hand lands by Thibodeau.

Thibodeau tries to score a body lock takedown but Carey shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Thibodeau with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Carey jumps guard but Thibodeau turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Pier Olivier Thibodeau has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Larry Carey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Thibodeau manages to pull guard.
