PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spark Boro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Jersey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jersey has chosen Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Dan Jersey told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Jersey!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Jersey lands but Boro takes it in his stride.

It looks like Spark Boro has been cut.
Jersey swings for the body but Boro moves out of range.

Jersey throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Boro was covering up waiting for the punch and Jersey finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jersey stops Boro from standing up.
Jersey is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Boro on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Boro tries to get out of the position.
Jersey trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jersey's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Boro has momentary wrist control but Jersey slips an elbow through the middle.
Boro working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jersey.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jersey dives in and scores a takedown into Boro's guard.
Jersey trying to control the position from guard on top but Boro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jersey missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boro is looking for a sweep.

Jersey swings around for an armbar but Boro sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jersey's guard.

Jersey pushes Boro off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Jersey darts in looking for a takedown but Boro gets double underhooks and turns Jersey into the cage.
Jersey lands a leg kick that knocks Boro off balance momentarily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jersey.
A little feinted left hand from Boro on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jersey throws a head kick that misses.
Jersey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Boro sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jersey somewhat.
Boro was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Spark Boro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Jersey.

Jersey fails to land the takedown.
Boro swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Jersey misses with a takedown
and Jersey takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Jersey lands with an uppercut that bounces Boro off the cage and back into range.
Jersey lands with a cross.
Jersey connects with a good right hand that stumbles Boro. Boro circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Jersey fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And Boro counters with a quick kick to the body but Jersey blocks it.

Jersey misses with a wild combination.
Boro scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Jersey throws a shot from downtown. Boro moves away and avoids it.
Boro appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Spark Boro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jersey blocks a head kick by Boro.
Boro takes one to the side of the head.
Boro throws a lazy right hand but Jersey sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boro throws a sloppy head kick and Jersey moves out of range easily.
Jersey fails with a takedown attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Boro on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Jersey dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Spark Boro's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Boro takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jersey throws a nice looking combination but Boro bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
No joy there for Jersey, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Boro gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Jersey.
Jersey throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Boro went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Jersey has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Jersey scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Boro tries to buck Jersey off but Jersey is having none of it.
Jersey happy to just control the position for now.

The ground and pound from Jersey seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Boro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jersey on the ground.

Boro takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Jersey in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Boro looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Jersey turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
