13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Evans! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chisulo Kalagho! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kalagho darts in looking for a takedown but Evans gets double underhooks and turns Kalagho into the cage. Kalagho tries for a takedown but Evans sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Evans throws a sloppy head kick and Kalagho moves out of range easily. Nice body kick there by Evans. Evans throws a wild body kick that Kalagho sees coming a mile off. Kalagho misses with a takedown attempt - Evans sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Nick Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chisulo Kalagho. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Evans throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Evans slaps away a takedown attempt from Kalagho, before circling back to the center of the mat. Evans will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Kalagho's coach down at Abobomination Training $700 13 LEGIT elite coaches was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kalagho's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Evans throws a leg kick that misses. Kalagho shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Evans defends it nicely.

A nice leg kick lands there from Evans. Kalagho fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Evans fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Evans misses with a leg kick and Kalagho counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kalagho missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Evans had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kalagho defends it easily. Kalagho in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Evans has his hands on Kalagho's head, controlling the position. Kalagho trying to control the position from guard on top but Evans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Evans is trying to keep Kalagho in close.

Kalagho throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Evans wants to control but Kalagho is keeping busy and won't allow it. Kalagho is looking to advance position but Evans won't allow it. Kalagho moves nicely into side control. Kalagho thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kalagho lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Evans down.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Evans tries to bench press Kalagho off him but Kalagho keeps the position. Evans prevents Kalagho from improving position. Evans tries to get back to half guard but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kalagho trying to mount his opponent but Evans defends it. Evans has hold of Kalagho's hands but Kalagho slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Evans trying to control but Kalagho postures up.
Kalagho lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Evans wants to control but Kalagho is keeping busy.
Chisulo Kalagho has got the better of the ground game so far. Evans wants to control the action here but instead Kalagho manages to pass to full mount! Kalagho landing shots from mount. Kalagho pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Kalagho looking to hit a scissor sweep but Evans is one step ahead there. Evans drops back looking for a leg! Kalagho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kalagho manages to kick Evans off! Evans jumps back into Kalagho's guard. Kalagho wants to sweep here but Evans controlling him for the moment. Kalagho looking for subs off his back but Evans has passed one foot through into half guard.

Evans controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Evans wants to control from the top but Kalagho keeps moving. Evans has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kalagho tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chisulo Kalagho showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Evans regains full guard. Nicely done. Kalagho with a flurry of punches that miss. Kalagho works over Evans with some ground and pound from guard. Kalagho is looking to work some ground and pound but Evans has wrist control. Evans preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kalagho trying to control but Evans is working from the bottom. Evans utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kalagho works a leg free and moves into half guard. Evans wants to get back to full guard. Kalagho seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Evans does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Kalagho takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Evans throws the left hand but Kalagho avoids the punch easily. Evans tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

and Kalagho decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Evans's guard. Evans bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kalagho's guard.

Kalagho is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Kalagho wants to hit a switch here but Evans passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Kalagho there! Kalagho is squirming around, avoiding Evans's attempts to control the action. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kalagho is wriggling around trying to escape.
