The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maer ducks under a wild hook from Hope.
Devis Hope seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maer moves away from the strike by Hope.
A counter left hand to the body from Maer misses its target.
Hope loads up on a big right hand but Maer slips the punch.
Maer tries to counter with a takedown but Hope is quick to defend against it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Maer is defended easily by Hope.
Maer displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hope throws out the jab.
Maer drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hope sprawls and moves away.
Hope bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Maer's head backwards.
Nice takedown defense from Hope. No joy for Maer on that attempt.
Maer shoots for a double leg takedown but Hope sprawls well. He's pushed Maer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Maer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Maer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hope.

Hope uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Maer.
Hope displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Maer.
Maer is breathing heavily.
Hope avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hope misses with an uppercut. Maer saw that one coming.

Hope shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hope lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hope paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Maer - great work!
