Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Boyd Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Boyd Pena!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ken Paul!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Pena.

Paul moves into the clinch successfully.
Pena trying to land knees to the body.

Paul jumps guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Paul is working an open guard so Pena takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pena. Paul does a little dance to reset his feet.
Paul shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pena as he jumps to the side.
Paul swinging wildly here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Paul has managed to clinch.
Pena goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pena throws an elbow but it misses.
Pena tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Paul blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Pena drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Paul gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Paul is trying to break the clinch but Pena has him pressed against the cage.
Pena drops down looking for an ankle pick but Paul pulls his leg out and moves away.
Paul throws a lazy head kick
and Pena counters with a good low kick that Paul was not able to check.
Pena tries to close the distance and clinch but Paul swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Paul throws out a counter right but Pena avoids it with no problem.

Paul clinches with his opponent.
Paul wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Pena tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Pena lands a left hand.
A nice left hand lands by Pena.
Pena misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Paul tries to pull guard but Pena won't allow it.
Pena tries to throw a body punch but Paul avoids it by throwing Pena back against the cage.

Pena lands a right hand.
Paul tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pena smiles and moves away.
Boyd Pena has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Paul.
Paul circles away from the clinch attempt.
Paul shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pena as he avoids it easily.
Pena fails with an attempt to clinch.
Paul throws a counter combo.

Pena defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Paul.
Ken Paul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pena clinches up against the cage.
Paul tries to pull guard but Pena won't allow it.
Paul prevents a body shot from Pena.
Pena prevents the takedown attempt.
Paul jumps guard but Pena stands there with Paul around his waist. Paul gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Pena throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Pauls head.

Pena is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Pena really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Paul blocking some punches.
Pena fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Paul has had enough of the clinch but Pena keeps him there for the moment.
Paul tries to score a body lock takedown but Pena shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Paul wants a takedown but no success here.
Pena misses with a punch on the inside.
Pena throws a punch but it's blocked by Paul.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pena swings wildly with an uppercut but Paul uses good head movement to avoid it.

Paul shoots in and drives through. Pena sprawls well.
Pena seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Paul shoots for a double leg takedown but Pena sprawls well. He's pushed Paul's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pena gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Paul.

Paul has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pena avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Paul tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Paul has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pena is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Paul wants to take the fight to the mat but Pena manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Pena is pressed up against the cage. Paul has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pena down to the mat. Pena avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Paul is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boyd Pena dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

and Pena counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Sloppy strikes from Paul. Those never looked like landing.
Pena tries to clinch up but Paul circles away and keeps his distance.

Paul throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pena's waist but Pena gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Paul off to one side.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pena, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
