Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luiz Kartes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves's entrance music is Sick Puppies - You're Going Down. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Luiz Kartes! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kartes forces Alves back against the ropes and clinches. Kartes wants a takedown but no success here.
Come on Kartes - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Alves on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Alves wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kartes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Alves listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Alves missing with a left hand there. Kartes was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kartes fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Alves tried to counter with a leg kick but Kartes avoided it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kartes dodges the punch combination from Alves.
Kartes shoots in looking for a takedown but Alves manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kartes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Ricardo Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luiz Kartes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves digs a good body shot into Kartes's ribs. Luiz Kartes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alves throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
It looks like Luiz Kartes has been cut. Alves throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Alves connects with a looping right hand.
Kartes on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Kartes throws a big shot that misses. Alves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kartes circles away. Alves thows a left - swing and a miss! Alves gets tackled into the ropes by Kartes. Kartes maintains the clinch. Kartes gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Alves regains guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kartes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alves works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kartes controls the pace. Kartes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Alves dives on top into guard. Kartes has a closed guard, preventing Alves from standing up. Alves keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kartes's head. Alves trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kartes's guard. Alves wants to pass the guard but Kartes is keeping the position. Kartes is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kartes can do anything to dispel that myth. Kartes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alves's guard.
Alves is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Ararigboya Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Kartes is looking to work some ground and pound but Alves has wrist control. Kartes trying to control the position from guard on top but Alves is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alves wants to stand up but Kartes is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Alves is looking to stand back up but Kartes counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Alves. Kartes stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Alves to get to his feet. Alves catches Kartes with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Kartes shoots in for a takedown but Alves shows good takedown defense. Kartes misses with a double jab.
Kartes fails miserably with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ricardo Alves dominated that round. The cut man is working on Luiz Kartes's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Kartes has his takedown stuffed enabling Alves to counter with a crisp jab. Kartes on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Alves lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kartes at a distance.
Alves is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kartes can do to turn this around? Kartes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alves pinned against the ropes. Alves gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Kartes takes one to the chin there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kartes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Alves counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Ricardo Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luiz Kartes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves jabs at Kartes's body. Kartes is breathing heavily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kartes. Oooooh!!! Alves has knocked Kartes down with a huge combo! Alves steps away and waves a wobbly Kartes back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Kartes is rocked! Nice body punch from Alves. Kartes is still on wobbly legs! Can Alves finish him? Ricardo Alves is winning the standup battle so far. Kartes misses with a takedown attempt letting Alves counter with a right hand. Alves cracks Kartes on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Kartes falls backwards against the ropes. Alves follows up with more strikes that drop Kartes to his knees. Alves keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Kartes! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ricardo Alves! A less than humble Ricardo Alves misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
