Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ramon Salazar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 31 - 0, fighting out of London, Hans Gruber! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salazar darts in looking for a takedown but Gruber gets double underhooks and turns Salazar into the cage. Gruber closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Salazar tries to bench press Gruber off him but Gruber keeps the position. Gruber working the ground and pound. Salazar tries to bench press Gruber off him but Gruber keeps the position. Salazar is working hard here to advance position. Salazar sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Gruber sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Salazar defending well though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Salazar looking for submissions off his back. Gruber lands with a punch from half guard. Gruber trying to control from half guard but Salazar is working away. Salazar looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salazar looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Salazar actively working from the bottom here. Gruber wants to lay and pray for a moment but Salazar keeps working. Gruber really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Salazar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gruber working Salazar over with strikes. Nice strikes from Gruber there. Gruber working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Salazar is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gruber's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gruber's back! Gruber preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Salazar. Salazar lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gruber trying to control but not successfully. Salazar working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Gruber is doing well to defend. Salazar seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Gruber is forced to tap and this one is over!
