PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kisuke Urahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Mancine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Kisuke Urahara!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Mancine!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mancine throws out a loose jab but Urahara uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mancine has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Mancine throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Urahara sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Urahara clobbers Mancine with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Mancine lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Urahara thows a body kick. Mancine tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Urahara closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mancine is looking to regain half guard here but Urahara keeps moving and retains side control.
Urahara tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Mancine sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Urahara seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mancine does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Urahara stalling away here and it's allowed Mancine to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mancine struggling a bit here.
Mancine is trying to improve his position.
Mancine is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Urahara off and has taken his back!
Urahara turns into Mancine and is now in his guard.

Mancine is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mancine wants to work for an arm triangle but Urahara is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Urahara is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mancine's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mancine's back!

Mancine rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Mancine is staying active underneath Urahara, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That was a close round but I would say that Kisuke Urahara will probably get the nod.

Mancine gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Mancine slips a jab from Urahara.
Mancine lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Urahara fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mancine manages to avoid it.
Urahara misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Urahara fails to land with a series of punches.
Mancine lands an overhand right.
Urahara throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kisuke Urahara is winning the standup battle so far.
Urahara doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Urahara walks into a stiff left hand from Mancine.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Urahara throws a jab when Mancine was well out of range.
Kisuke Urahara is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mancine fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Urahara throws a leg kick but Mancine sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Urahara misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mancine has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Mancine now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Mancine throws a looping overhand right but Urahara ducks down to avoid it.

Urahara attempts a counter takedown but Mancine avoids it well and moves away.
Urahara takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Urahara finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Mancine swings for the body but Urahara moves out of range.
Urahara tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mancine sizes up Urahara with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Urahara throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Urahara bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Urahara wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mancine keeps working.

Mancine gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Kisuke Urahara overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Urahara wants to pass the guard but Mancine is defending well.

Mancine wants to control but Urahara is keeping busy.

Urahara is looking for a kimura but Mancine is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Urahara to get the leverage.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mancine holds on and takes a little breather.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mancine scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Urahara takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Mancine takes a swing at Urahara's ribcage but misses.
Mancine looks to throw the jab but Urahara is out of range.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Urahara, as that shot connected.

It looks like Ray Mancine has been cut.
Mancine looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Urahara throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Urahara's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mancine connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Urahara scrambles back to his feet.
Urahara throws a hook but Mancine avoids it easily.
Mancine on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ray Mancine will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Urahara ducks under a wild hook from Mancine.
A punch lands to the side of Mancine 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Urahara closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mancine's guard.
Urahara lands a couple of elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mancine is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Urahara is aware though and is defending well.
Urahara throws a big elbow that misses.
Urahara looking to sit in guard and control but Mancine gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mancine working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mancine might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Urahara haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mancine connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Urahara some visible discomfort.
Urahara is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mancine's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Mancine is just content to waste time from the top position. Urahara takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Urahara tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mancine tries to free his leg and advance position but Urahara is retaining full guard.
Mancine content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Urahara looking for a triangle here. Mancine is fighting it but it looks tight! Urahara pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Mancine is tapping out - this one is all over!
