Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jess Banks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Holiday! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holiday misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Banks throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Holiday stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Horrible takedown attempt by Holiday or perhaps it was just good defense by Banks, which made it look bad. Banks is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Banks stuffs the takedown attempt from Holiday. Holiday gets slowly back to his feet. Banks swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Banks showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Holiday.
A little feinted left hand from Banks on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holiday looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A quick step to the side and Banks tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Jess Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Holiday. Holiday circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Banks gets a clinch. Banks content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Holiday blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Banks breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Holiday tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Banks swivels and escapes. Holiday looks winded! Banks takes the fight into the clinch. Banks is pressed up against the cage. Holiday has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Banks down to the mat. Banks avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Banks has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Banks is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jess Banks. Banks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Holiday swats him away and circles back towards the center. Holiday rushes Banks and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Come on Holiday - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Holiday is trying to break free. Holiday tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Banks just stands there and leans against the cage. Holiday wants to take the fight to the mat but Banks manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Banks breaks from the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Holiday with a lazy takedown attempt letting Banks counter with a right hand. Banks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Holiday gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Banks counters with a lovely shot to the body. Holiday throws a sloppy body shot
and Banks counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Holiday thinking. Holiday swats away the attempt to clinch by Banks. Banks changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Dave Holiday seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Banks closes the distance and clinches. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Holiday takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Holiday swats away the attempt to clinch by Banks. Banks shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Holiday defends it nicely. Jess Banks is winning the standup battle so far. Holiday throws a right hand that misses
and Banks makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Banks gets tackled into the cage by Holiday. Holiday maintains the clinch. Banks blocking some punches.

Banks pushes Holiday off but Holiday dives into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Holiday tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Holiday looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Banks is looking to reverse the position. Holiday sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Banks is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Banks tries to get back to half guard but can't. Banks can't do much from the bottom here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banks is trying to work for a sweep but Holiday has mounted him! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Holiday trying to control but he's not successful this time. Banks tries to lock up and control but Holiday gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Holiday is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Banks is surviving well by controlling Holiday's body position as best he can. Banks sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Holiday wants to work for an arm triangle but Banks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Holiday is thwarting Banks's attempts to control the position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Holiday showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Banks shoots for a double leg takedown but Holiday sprawls well. He's pushed Banks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
