PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonathon Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cristian Gavrilescu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gavrilescu tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sosa defends well and Gavrilescu ends up having to push Sosa into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Sosa tries to keep at a distance but Gavrilescu has taken the fight into the clinch.
Sosa is trying to drag Gavrilescu to the mat but Gavrilescu just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Sosa wants a takedown but no success here.
Sosa throws a knee to the head but misses.
Gavrilescu is working for takedown but Sosa is calmly controlling the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sosa blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Sosa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gavrilescu fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sosa throws a big counter combination but Gavrilescu scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Jonathon Sosa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cristian Gavrilescu.

Sosa clinches up with Gavrilescu and pushes him back against the cage.
Sosa tries to pull guard but Gavrilescu forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Gavrilescu can't break the clinch.
Gavrilescu tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Sosa avoids it.
Gavrilescu is pressed up against the cage. Sosa has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gavrilescu down to the mat. Gavrilescu avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gavrilescu shoots in looking for a takedown. Sosa tries to sprawl out of it but Gavrilescu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sosa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gavrilescu moves into range and clinches up with Sosa.
Gavrilescu looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Sosa is working for takedown but Gavrilescu is calmly controlling the position for now.

Sosa wants to take the fight to the mat but Gavrilescu manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Sosa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gavrilescu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gavrilescu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Sosa decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Gavrilescu creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Gavrilescu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gavrilescu will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Gavrilescu shoots in and drives through. Sosa sprawls well.
Gavrilescu throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sosa.

Sosa rushes Gavrilescu and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Gavrilescu is trying to break the clinch but Sosa has him pressed against the cage.
Sosa is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Gavrilescu is defending well.
Gavrilescu is trying to force a seperation but Sosa has the dominant position.
Gavrilescu scores with a nice hook to the head.

Sosa misses with a knee strike.
Sosa has Gavrilescu pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gavrilescu manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Gavrilescu prevents the takedown attempt.
Sosa changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gavrilescu fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Gavrilescu takes the fight into the clinch.
Sosa is trying to stall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sosa is trying to drag Gavrilescu to the mat but Gavrilescu just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Gavrilescu tries to pull guard but Sosa holds him up against the cage and eventually Gavrilescu drops back down to his feet.

Sosa has hold of one of Gavrilescu's legs. Gavrilescu is fighting the takedown attempt but Sosa gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Gavrilescu is looking for a triangle but Sosa pushes his legs off easily.

Sosa stands up from Gavrilescu's guard - Sosa perhaps looking for a knockout.

It looks like Jonathon Sosa has been cut.
Sosa tries to score a body lock takedown but Gavrilescu shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Sosa prevents Gavrilescu from breaking the clinch.

Oh Sosa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gavrilescu has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Gavrilescu throws an elbow that misses.
Gavrilescu dips a shoulder and cracks Sosa with a mighty uppercut! Sosa falls back against the cage and Gavrilescu unloads with a barrage of strikes! Sosa is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Gavrilescu screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
