Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Avon Barksdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skyler Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson has chosen One as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Avon Barksdale! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Skyler Nelson! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barksdale throws a quick inside leg kick. Barksdale misses with a straight left. Barksdale misses with a hook. Nelson ducked under it nicely. Barksdale misses with an uppercut. Nelson drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Barksdale defends it well. Barksdale misses the jab. And Nelson tries to counter it with a takedown but Barksdale pushes his down on his head and steps out. Barksdale gets a double leg takedown into Nelson's guard. Barksdale drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Barksdale jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Nelson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Barksdale wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nelson looking for a guillotine here but Barksdale defends easily.
Barksdale is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barksdale thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Nelson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barksdale defends well. Barksdale trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom. Barksdale advances position into side control! Barksdale is trying to get an arm triangle but Nelson is defending well. Barksdale lands a decent elbow from side control. Barksdale is working Nelson over with some ground and pound from side control. Barksdale is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nelson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Barksdale wants to control but Nelson is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson is looking for a sweep. Barksdale working the head and body with strikes. Nelson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Nelson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Barksdale remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Barksdale is looking to take a break and control but Nelson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Barksdale lands some shots froms side control. Nelson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Barksdale tries to get to full guard but Nelson has control of the leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson is working for a kimura but Barksdale is defending it quite comfortably.

Nelson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barksdale is just riding it out for now. Nelson eventually gives up the hold. Barksdale is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Barksdale slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Barksdale pushes Nelson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. A looping hook to the body misses from Barksdale. Nelson does a little dance to reset his feet. Barksdale lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nelson circles away quickly and effectively.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barksdale shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Nelson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Nelson is staying active underneath Barksdale, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Ground and pound from Barksdale. Nelson is looking to improve his position.
Barksdale moves into full mount! Nelson won't be happy about that! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nelson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barksdale is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Nelson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Nelson taking shots to the head. Nelson tries to improve his position but Barksdale has taken his back! Barksdale has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Nelson tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Barksdale pushes Nelson away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Avon Barksdale! A very excited looking Avon Barksdale made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
