The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilchrist clinches up with Mathis and pushes him back against the cage.
Mathis is trying to pull guard but Gilchrist has him pressed against the cage.
Mathis trying to stall but Gilchrist improves his position.
Mathis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gilchrist swats away the attempt to clinch by Mathis.
Gilchrist closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gilchrist lands in his opponent's guard.
Gilchrist wants to pass the guard but Mathis is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gilchrist is pushing down on Mathis's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mathis is fighting to maintain full guard but Gilchrist has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mathis is trying to maintain the position but Gilchrist is very close to passing his half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mathis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gilchrist on the ground.
Mathis tries to hold on but Gilchrist postures up.

Mathis looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Gilchrist is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Mathis with him. Mathis is trying to defend but Gilchrist has an arm under the chin now! Mathis grimaces and is forced to tap out!
