The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne throws a sloppy head kick and Pitts moves out of range easily.
Payne swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Payne jabs Pitts to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Payne fails with the takedown
and Pitts counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pitts.
Payne is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Pitts lands a couple of digs.
Pitts is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pitts stays in close to Payne's body and controls the position.
Pitts gets to his feet - Payne follows without any prompting.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pitts closes this distance looking for a takedown but Payne circles away.
Payne connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Pitts momentarily.
It looks like Neal Pitts has been cut.
Payne circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Pitts drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Payne follows Pitts to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
