PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Uber Balance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Chang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Balance has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Uber Balance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Greg Chang!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chang darts in and clinches Balance up against the cage.

Chang is trying to trip Balance. He has hold of a leg but Balance is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Chang persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Chang tries to free his leg and advance position but Balance is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chang trying to control the position from guard on top but Balance is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chang throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Balance works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Balance looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chang postures up in Balance's guard and throws a big left but Balance blocks it.

Chang thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Chang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Balance. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Balance keeping moving, preventing Chang from controlling successfully.
Chang would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Balance wants to sweep here but Chang controlling him for the moment.
Balance is breathing heavily.
Chang trying to control but Balance is working from the bottom.
Balance might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Balance is controlling Chang's posture.
Chang throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Balance avoids the head kick by Chang.
Chang tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Chang misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Balance misses with a wild body shot.
Balance misses with a hook.
Balance tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Chang counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Chang is looking to work some ground and pound but Balance has wrist control.
Chang with a flurry of punches that miss.
Chang missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Chang tries to free his leg and advance position but Balance is retaining full guard.
Chang working some strikes from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Balance looking for a guillotine here but Chang defends easily.
Chang must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Chang working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Balance wants to sweep here but Chang controlling him for the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chang.
Chang shoots in but Balance avoids the takedown attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chang closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chang lands in his opponent's guard.
Chang loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Chang thows a big elbow that misses.
Chang is working Balance over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Balance avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Chang pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Balance is keeping the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chang stopping the sweep attempt from Balance.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Balance misses with a few strikes there.
Balance misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Chang closes the distance and clinches.
Chang is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Balance gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Uber Balance has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Chang.

Chang works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Balance is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Chang has his hands clasped together but Balance extends an breaks Chang's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Balance.
