PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Dandas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tonny Karpecny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bruce Dandas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tonny Karpecny!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dandas clinches up against the cage.
Dandas lands with a light punch inside.
Karpecny tries to score a body lock takedown but Dandas shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Dandas definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dandas is pressed up against the cage. Karpecny has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dandas down to the mat. Dandas avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Karpecny looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Dandas changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Dandas has hold of one of Karpecny's legs. Karpecny is fighting the takedown attempt but Dandas gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Karpecny keeping moving, preventing Dandas from controlling successfully.
Karpecny is looking to stand up but Dandas isn't so interested in that idea.
Dandas is standing up over Karpecny. Karpecny looks to escape but Dandas dives into side control.

Dandas trying to control the position but Karpecny is working away.

Dandas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Karpecny has escaped the position, nice work there.

Dandas is trying to get an arm triangle but Karpecny is defending well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karpecny is still trying to improve position.
Karpecny really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dandas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dandas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Karpecny, who protects the arm well.
You can see the frustration on Karpecny's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dandas misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Check out the look on Dandas's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Dandas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dandas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Dandas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Karpecny, who protects the arm well.
Dandas wants to control but Karpecny is keeping him busy.
Dandas landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Dandas swings around for an armbar but Karpecny sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dandas's guard.
Karpecny wants to get up but he can't break Dandas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Karpecny wants to stand and escape but instead Dandas has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dandas pushes down on Karpecny's leg and manages to get into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Dandas dominated that round.

Karpecny tries to stand and escape but Dandas is controlling the position.
Karpecny looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Dandas is trying to control but can't.
Dandas is looking for a sweep. Karpecny is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dandas blocking the ground and pound attempt from Karpecny.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dandas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Karpecny's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Karpecny's back!

Dandas is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Karpecny is trying to get back to his feet but Dandas has full control of the position and if anything, Karpecny has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Dandas is looking to control Karpecny but Karpecny is wriggling around and keeping busy.
You can see the frustration on Karpecny's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Dandas is not going to allow Karpecny to sit and survive in this position.

Karpecny is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Dandas gets his way!
Dandas gets his hands free as Karpecny looks to control.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Dandas's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
You can see the frustration on Karpecny's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Karpecny fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dandas avoids it really well and circles away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Karpecny can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dandas throws a big elbow that misses.
Karpecny has a closed guard, preventing Dandas from standing up.
Karpecny keeping moving, preventing Dandas from controlling successfully.

Karpecny is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dandas defends well.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Dandas works over Karpecny with some ground and pound from guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Dandas throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bruce Dandas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Dandas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Karpecny, pushing him back against the cage.

Dandas turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Dandas has an Americana. Karpecny didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Dandas is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Dandas hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Bruce Dandas!
A relieved looking Bruce Dandas thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
