Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boets dips to his left and cracks Lewis with an uppercut!
Boets misses the jab.
Lewis tries a head kick but it misses.
Lewis looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Boets swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lewis slips a straight right by Boets.
Lewis lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Dimon Boets seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boets throws a jab but it's blocked by Lewis.
Boets takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Lewis connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Boets throws a combination that misses

and Lewis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Lewis manages to break the clinch.
Boets looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boets misses with a hook

so Lewis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Boets is trying to control the position but Lewis postures up.
Lewis told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Lewis wants to control from the top but Boets keeps moving.
Boets avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lewis trying to control but Boets is working from the bottom.
Lewis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Boets is keeping the position for now.

Boets is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lewis with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Boets keeping moving, preventing Lewis from controlling successfully.
Lewis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lewis throws a big elbow that misses.
Boets trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Boets is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lewis wants to get up but he can't break Boets's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lewis stands up over Boets, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Boets trying to strike off his back.
Boets keeping moving, preventing Lewis from controlling successfully.

Boets looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lewis cracks Boets with a solid left hand.
Boets working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lewis.
Lewis is fighting to break Boets's control of his arms but Boets is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Boets preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boets keeps the fight on the outside.
Lewis is looking to clinch but Boets is avoiding it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

A big head kick from Lewis and Boets is sent sprawling to the canvas!


Boets is rocked!


It looks like Dimon Boets has been cut.

Boets had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lewis defends it easily.
Oh Boets is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lewis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Boets's guard.
Lewis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Boets actively working from the bottom here.
Boets tries to roll over but Lewis keeps him under control.
Lewis wants to control but Boets is keeping him busy.
Boets has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Lewis gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Boets seems to have got his legs back now.
Boets avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lewis fakes the leg kick and cracks Boets in the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lewis misses with a head kick.
Lewis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Boets was well out of range. Poor timing from Lewis.
A swing and a miss from Boets.
A countering left hand to the body from Lewis misses.
Whack! Lewis lands a heavy head kick that drops Boets. The ref tackles Lewis to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Boets was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). John Lewis!
