Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akito Toyotoku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phil Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Brooks gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Toyotoku.
Toyotoku throws a sloppy head kick and Brooks moves out of range easily.
Despite the aggression on Brooks's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Toyotoku throws a head kick that misses
and Brooks counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Brooks seems to be working for a kimura but Toyotoku defends the submission attempt.
Toyotoku knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brooks on the ground.
Toyotoku tries to kick Brooks off but Brooks keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Brooks is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Toyotoku is just riding it out for now. Brooks eventually gives up the hold.
Brooks is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Toyotoku has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Brooks has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Toyotoku defend it? Brooks steps over the head and cranks it - Toyotoku is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Brooks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Phil Brooks!
Phil Brooks decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
The defeated Akito Toyotoku had this to say: 'I will come back stronger.'.
