Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takachi Sakushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Summers has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Takachi Sakushi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takachi Sakushi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alex Summers!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakushi slips under a jab.
Summers lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Sakushi closes the distance and clinches up with Summers, looking for a takedown. Sakushi pushes Summers against the cage but Summers circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Sakushi or perhaps it was just good defense by Summers, which made it look bad.
Sakushi blocks a head kick by Summers.

Sakushi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Summers napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Sakushi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sakushi wants to control but Summers is keeping him busy.
You can see the frustration on Summers's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Summers tries to bench press Sakushi off him but Sakushi keeps the position.
Summers felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Summers is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sakushi has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Sakushi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sakushi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sakushi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Summers can't do much from the bottom here.

Sakushi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Summers knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Sakushi tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Summers is being controlled here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Alex Summers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Summers lands with a kick to the ribs.
Summers lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sakushi backs up against the cage.


It looks like Takachi Sakushi has been cut.
Summers lands a glancing blow to the side of Sakushi's head.
Sakushi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Summers is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Sakushi with a body shot.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Takachi Sakushi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Summers lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Sakushi out cold! Sakushi is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Alex Summers!
