PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ace Stylez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zeke Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stylez's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Ace Of Spades. Rivers is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Suffa by Hed Pe. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ace Stylez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zeke Rivers!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivers blocks a low kick nicely.

Stylez moves into the clinch.
Rivers can't get the takedown.
Stylez drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rivers gets control of Stylez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rivers will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Stylez trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rivers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Stylez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rivers on the ground.
Stylez wanted to stand there but Rivers had control of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stylez gets to his feet - Rivers follows without any prompting.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stylez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rivers swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Stylez shoots in but no luck this time.
Rivers lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Stylez tries to clinch but Rivers moves out of range.
Ace Stylez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stylez gets a clinch.
Rivers is trying to push Stylez away but Stylez has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Stylez fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ace Stylez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stylez working hard to break the clinch.
Rivers looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Good body shot from Rivers.
Stylez is trying to force a seperation but Rivers has the dominant position.
Rivers keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Stylez's efforts to push away.
Rivers tries for a takedown. No joy.
A nice left hand lands by Stylez.
Rivers tries for a takedown but Stylez manages to get underhooks.

Rivers lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Stylez or not.
Rivers prevents Stylez from breaking the clinch.
Rivers is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Stylez pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Rivers has had enough of the clinch but Stylez keeps him there for the moment.

Stylez manages to break the clinch.
Rivers misses with a takedown attempt
and Stylez counters with a one-two to the body.
Rivers looks winded!
Stylez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Stylez is looking to slow Rivers down with leg kicks.
Stylez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rivers swats away the attempt to clinch by Stylez.
Stylez looks to land a combination. Rivers sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Stylez throws a wild body kick that Rivers sees coming a mile off.
Stylez misses with a series of wild punches.
Rivers is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rivers throws a low kick but Stylez avoids it.
Stylez lands with a nice combination. Rivers backs away looking to recover.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Stylez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Rivers lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Rivers prevents Stylez from breaking the clinch.
Stylez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Stylez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Rivers.

Rivers has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Stylez uses from the top position.
Stylez trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rivers is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Rivers is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Stylez presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Stylez wants to get back to striking at distance but Rivers won't allow it.
Stylez is trying to break free.
Stylez can't break the clinch.

Stylez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No joy there for Rivers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
It looked like Stylez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rivers fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ace Stylez dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Stylez lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Rivers fails to land with a series of punches.
Rivers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Stylez lands a jab-cross combination.
Stylez throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Rivers's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Stylez dives in looking to finish as Rivers flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Stylez's strikes! Stylez is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Rivers's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Rivers was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ace Stylez!
During a confident post fight interview, Ace Stylez thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
