Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Montalban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and RL Lacoste (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jesus Montalban!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, RL Lacoste!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lacoste pushes Montalban up against the cage in a clinch.
Lacoste prevents a body shot from Montalban.
Lacoste is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Montalban wants to stall.

Lacoste works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Lacoste working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Montalban is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lacoste throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Montalban works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Lacoste stops Montalban from standing up.
Lacoste wants to control from the top but Montalban keeps moving.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lacoste is looking to work some ground and pound but Montalban has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
No joy there for Montalban, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lacoste let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Montalban throws a body kick that misses.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Montalban swings for the body but Lacoste moves out of range.
Lacoste shoots in but no luck this time.
Montalban throws a big counter combination but Lacoste scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Lacoste throws a body shot but no joy.
Lacoste throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Montalban appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Lacoste shoots for a takedown but Montalban saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
We've been told by Montalban's head coaches at [CBK] Punch-kicker Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Jesus Montalban has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of RL Lacoste.
Nice straight punches there by Lacoste. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lacoste.
Lacoste throws a body punch but Montalban moves out of range.
It looked like Montalban wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Montalban catches Lacoste with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Lacoste decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lacoste is trying to control. Montalban wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Lacoste thows a huge punch but Montalban dodges it nicely.

Lacoste seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Montalban does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Montalban counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Lacoste takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

That was a close round but I would say that Jesus Montalban will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Lacoste shoots in looking for a takedown but Montalban manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lacoste's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Montalban comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Montalban lands a nice hook to Lacoste's body. Lacoste takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Montalban is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lacoste is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lacoste thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Lacoste takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Montalban wants to get back to his feet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lacoste closes the distance and clinches up with Montalban, looking for a takedown. Lacoste pushes Montalban against the cage but Montalban circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Lacoste scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Lacoste takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Montalban fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lacoste looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Montalban chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lacoste can pounce on him.

and Lacoste counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lacoste shoots in but no luck this time.
Montalban swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
A big left from Lacoste misses.
Lacoste is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Montalban.
RL Lacoste has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Montalban throws out a powerful jab.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lacoste throws a lazy right hand but Montalban sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jesus Montalban showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Montalban, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
