Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Django El Rojo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
El Rojo moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
El Rojo throws a body punch but Johnson moves out of range.
El Rojo scores with a kick to the body.
El Rojo is looking to land body kicks.
Johnson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but El Rojo manages to avoid it.
El Rojo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Johnson.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Johnson is trying to control the action in half guard but El Rojo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
El Rojo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if El Rojo tries to get out of the position.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
El Rojo trying to control but Johnson postures up.

Johnson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but El Rojo sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Johnson is working for a submission of some sort.

Johnson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so El Rojo is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.
Johnson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for El Rojo!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Johnson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Johnson working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Johnson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force El Rojo to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so El Rojo shrugs it off.

Johnson is working for a guillotine from mount but El Rojo frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Johnson working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. El Rojo turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Johnson off and cradles El Rojo's limp body as Johnson celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Steven Johnson!
Steven Johnson really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Worldwide Nutrition (160q) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
