Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pithe Canthropus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Franks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canthropus comes to the cage accompanied by Pizzaman - Trippin' On Sunshine. James Franks will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
36 - 28 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Pithe Canthropus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Franks! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Canthropus fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Franks manages to avoid it. Franks tries to clinch but Canthropus is having none of it. The fight stays on the outside here - Franks looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Franks tries to close the distance and clinch but Canthropus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Pithe Canthropus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Franks wants to clinch up but Canthropus keeps it at a distance. Canthropus attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Crunch! Canthropus slams his shin into Franks's torso. A big left from Canthropus misses. Canthropus dives in and grabs Franks's left leg, looking for a takedown. Franks pushes down on Canthropus's head and hops out. Jab, jab by Canthropus - just one landing. Some bone on bone action there as Canthropus checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Franks avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Franks will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Canthropus circles away from the clinch attempt.
Canthropus tried to score with a low kick but Franks checks it. Franks throws out a counter right but Canthropus avoids it with no problem. Canthropus tries to keep at a distance but Franks has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. With the fighters up against the cage, Canthropus throws an elbow but misses. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Franks stalls. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Canthropus. Franks is trying to break the clinch but Canthropus has him pressed against the cage. Canthropus tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Canthropus tries to land a knee to the head but Franks blocks with his arms.

Franks comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
It looks like Pithe Canthropus has been cut. Franks makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Canthropus tries a body shot but Franks blocks it.
The referee is keeping an eye on Canthropus - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Canthropus lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Franks backwards. Franks dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Franks is trying to maintain a safe position but Canthropus gets an underhook and turns Franks into the cage. Canthropus tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Franks lands an uppercut. Canthropus struggles to land a body shot inside as Franks controls his hands.
Franks lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Canthropus backwards. Canthropus is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Canthropus doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Franks scores with an uppercut up the middle. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Franks throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Canthropuss head. Stalling in the clinch from Canthropus.
Canthropus lands a body shot. Franks gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Canthropus is pushing Franks up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Franks blocks a body shot from Canthropus. Franks lands an elbow inside. Franks tries to circle away but Canthropus has him pinned against the cage. Franks blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Canthropus tries to work over Franks's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Franks scores with a shot to the side of Canthropus's head. Canthropus controlling the action here for a moment.
Canthropus is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Still in the clinch, Franks scores with a nice short uppercut. Canthropus leaning his opponent against the cage. Franks breaks from the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Canthropus throws a series of punches but Franks moves out of range. Canthropus scores with a head kick.
Canthropus tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Franks follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land. Franks lands a jab to the nose. Canthropus fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Franks scores with a hook. Franks drops Canthropus with a beautiful combination! Canthropus stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Franks is looking for the KO!
Canthropus is rocked! Canthropus throws a body shot but no joy. Oh Canthropus is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Franks fails in his attempt to clinch. James Franks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Canthropus misses with a lunging right hand
letting Franks counter with a right hand. Franks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Canthropus swats him away and circles back towards the center. Canthropus keeps the fight on the outside. Franks connects with a body shot that sends Canthropus's belly button to the back. A slapping leg kick lands for Franks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Franks dominated that round. The cut man is working on Pithe Canthropus's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Canthropus misses with a body kick. Canthropus seems to have got his legs back now. Canthropus takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Franks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Canthropus swats him away and circles back towards the center. Franks lands with a hook. Canthropus tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Canthropus throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Franks makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Franks tries to clinch up but Canthropus circles away and keeps his distance. Franks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Canthropus feinted there with a counter leg kick. Canthropus ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Good standup being displayed there by Franks as he connects with a hook. BOOM! Franks lands a beautiful left hook that drops Canthropus. Canthropus tries to recover but Franks is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Canthropus lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Franks! A very excited looking James Franks made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. The defeated Pithe Canthropus had this to say: 'Crap. I lost. That sucks.'.
