Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Falcao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Escrima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Escrima comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bamboleo kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Diego Falcao has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Diego Falcao! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Escrima! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Escrima throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Falcao throws an overhand right that lands on Escrima's shoulder, as Escrima tries to avoid the shot. Falcao clinches with his opponent.
Falcao lands with a left to the head. Escrima pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Escrima has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Falcao tries to clinch but Escrima moves out of range. A slow jab from Escrima misses its intended target. Nice uppercut lands for Escrima. That snapped Falcao's head back.
It looks like Diego Falcao has been cut. Falcao clinches up with Escrima and pushes him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Falcao tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Escrima's elbow. Escrima pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Falcao throws a right and a left that Escrima avoids nicely. Falcao misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Falcao changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Escrima looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. You can see the frustration on Escrima's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Escrima tries to buck Falcao off but Falcao is having none of it. Escrima is not content to let Falcao control the position. Escrima can't do much from the bottom here. Escrima gets back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Falcao prevents Escrima from improving his position. Escrima looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Falcao uses his free foot to push down on Escrima's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Escrima. Escrima tries to lock up and control but Falcao gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Falcao trying to control but Escrima is having none of it. Escrima tries to hold on but Falcao pushes him away. Escrima is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Falcao takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Escrima slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Escrima makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Escrima. Escrima working a defensive guard here.
Falcao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Escrima swivels though and keeps the full guard. Escrima seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Escrima throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Falcao ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Escrima steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Falcao. Escrima turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Escrima pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Escrima scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Diego Falcao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Falcao tries to clinch up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Falcao takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Escrima misses with a wild body shot. Falcao shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Escrima counters with a nice body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Escrima circles away from the clinch attempt.
No joy there for Escrima, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Falcao shoots in looking for a takedown but Escrima manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Falcao's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Escrima misses with a looping right. Falcao dives in and scores a takedown into Escrima's guard. Escrima working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Falcao doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Falcao manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Falcao looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Escrima wants to control but Falcao is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Falcao seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Escrima does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Escrima trying to control but Falcao postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Escrima is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Escrima looks to land a left hand but Falcao moved out of range nicely. Falcao seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Falcao shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Escrima but Escrima pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Falcao. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Escrima throws a leg kick but Falcao sees it coming and checks it nicely. Falcao misses with a wild body shot. Escrima swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Escrima cracks Falcao with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miguel Escrima showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Diego Falcao's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Falcao tries to close the distance and clinch but Escrima swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Falcao shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Escrima's guard. Escrima looking to control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Falcao wants to advance to full mount but Escrima doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Falcao is stalling in the full guard. Escrima is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Falcao is aware though and is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Falcao wants to control from the top but Escrima keeps moving. Escrima looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Falcao swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Escrima misses with a looping right. As Escrima tries to get set, Falcao tries to push him back and clinch up but Escrima manages to avoid the attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Falcao moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Escrima comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Falcao tries to clinch up but Escrima circles away and keeps his distance. Escrima just misses with a punch to the body.
Escrima throws a wild body kick that Falcao sees coming a mile off. Falcao scores with a nice head shot. Falcao swings widly with a right hand
and Escrima counters with a nice uppercut. Falcao misses the body punch enabling Escrima to counter with a crisp jab. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Escrima avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

And that's the end of the fight! Miguel Escrima comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Escrima has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
