PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Conor Brophy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renzo Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brophy comes to the cage accompanied by The Unicorns - I was Born (a Unicorn). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Brophy changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

and Brophy counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Brophy takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Brophy wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brophy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Well, if Brophy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jones wants to control but Brophy is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brophy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
