Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hannibal King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hannibal King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Rogers!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rogers's guard.

Rogers is looking for a triangle but King pushes his legs off easily.
King tries to stand but Rogers is controlling from the bottom.
King stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rogers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
King passes into half guard.
King stops Rogers from getting back to his feet.

King is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rogers defends it well.
Rogers wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rogers looks like he's trying to stand up.
King is thwarting Rogers's attempts to control the position.

King is looking for a kimura here.

King is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King wants to free his trapped foot but Rogers is holding on for dear life with his legs.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rogers has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but King is on him like a limpet, forcing Rogers back against the cage.
Rogers has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. King is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
King wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rogers can't get the takedown.
King misses with a hook from the clinch.

Hannibal King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Rogers.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Rogers.
A quick uppercut on the inside from King.
King tries a body shot but Rogers blocks it.
King makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

King pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Rogers shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Rogers works his way into side control.

Rogers working the ground and pound but King is defending the strikes.
Rogers controls the position.

Rogers is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. King knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Rogers takes a little break here. King wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
King is trying to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rogers trying to control the action but King is working from the bottom.
King tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rogers wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Rogers in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
King tries to improve position but can't.
Rogers fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Rogers creates some space and throws a big elbow, but King sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Rogers is looking to take a break and control but King is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hannibal King will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


No luck for Rogers with that takedown attempt.

Rogers changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. King looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
King tries to improve position but can't.
Rogers lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
King is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Rogers's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Rogers is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Sam Rogers has got the better of the ground game so far.

King is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rogers pulls his head out easily.
King wants to get back to his feet.
Rogers wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.

King tries to kick Rogers off but Rogers keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rogers connects with a nice short shot to King's temple.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rogers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. King did well to prevent Rogers getting side control.

Rogers is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Rogers wants to work for an arm triangle but King is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

King is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rogers pulls his head out easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sam Rogers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

King scores with a jab to the jaw.

Rogers bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rogers in side control, just content to control the action for now.
King wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

King is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Rogers working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but King is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Rogers has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! King taps out!
