Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simeon Ofasu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Xavier Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Simeon Ofasu! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sanchez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Ofasu can't fight it off and eventually Sanchez manages to take the fight to the floor. Ofasu looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Ofasu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sanchez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ofasu swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sanchez wants to control from the top but Ofasu keeps moving. Sanchez throwing strikes but missing. Sanchez forces his way into half guard. Sanchez is pressing down on Ofasu's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ofasu is holding on for now. Sanchez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez wants to control but Ofasu is keeping him busy.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ofasu tries a head kick but it misses.

Sanchez moves in looking to clinch but Ofasu pushes him off. Ofasu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sanchez tries to land a leg kick but Ofasu saw it coming and moves away.

Ofasu looks gassed! Sanchez throws a right hand that Ofasu ducks under and follows up with a left that Ofasu also avoids with ease. Simeon Ofasu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ofasu throws a head kick but Sanchez moves out of range.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sanchez misses with a series of wild punches.
Ofasu throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sanchez sees it coming and avoids it easily. Ofasu throws a head kick that misses. Sanchez misses with a few strikes there.
Sanchez moves into range and clinches up with Ofasu. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Sanchez is trying to drag Ofasu to the mat but Ofasu just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Sanchez drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Sanchez has picked Ofasu up - he's going for a ride! Sanchez dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Sanchez content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Ofasu pushes Sanchez off looking to stand but Sanchez dives back in and keeps control.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Ofasu is staying active underneath Sanchez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Sanchez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Sanchez trying to control from half guard but Ofasu is working away. Sanchez wants to free his trapped foot but Ofasu is holding on for dear life with his legs. Sanchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ofasu tries to kick Sanchez off but Sanchez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
 It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Ofasu lands with a kick to the temple. Sanchez shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Ofasu takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ofasu can do anything to dispel that myth. Sanchez has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ofasu's face.
A nice elbow there by Sanchez. Sanchez cracks Ofasu with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Sanchez landing strikes from the mount and Ofasu is in trouble! Sanchez lands a big shot there that rocks Ofasu but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sanchez scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The referee warns Ofasu that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Sanchez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ofasu is looking to escape. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.
Xavier Sanchez dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Ofasu throws a head kick that misses. Sanchez cracks Ofasu with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sanchez creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Sanchez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Sanchez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ofasu fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Sanchez takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Ofasu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sanchez scores with a one two! Ofasu had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Ofasu goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Sanchez avoids the head kick by Ofasu.
Sanchez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Sanchez landing strikes. Ofasu pushes Sanchez away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sanchez gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanchez moves into full mount! Sanchez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sanchez cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez wants to control the pace but Ofasu is squirming around nicely. Ofasu's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Sanchez lands a big elbow. BOOM! Sanchez connects with a massive shot to the dome!
