Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Herschel Mathis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hussein Eissa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eissa closes the distance and clinches.
Eissa prevents Mathis from breaking the clinch.
Eissa has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mathis is trying to keep an underhook but Eissa manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Eissa wants to control but Mathis is keeping him busy.
Mathis controlling the position well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mathis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Eissa is working away from the top position though.
Mathis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Eissa's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Eissa's back!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mathis is not going to allow Eissa to sit and survive in this position.

Mathis is trying to stick to Eissa's back but Eissa is turning into Mathis. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mathis's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Eissa.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mathis is on top in guard.
Eissa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mathis's guard.

Eissa has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Mathis is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Eissa is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mathis's half guard.
