PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Seppo Kastinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and That Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guy is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Walk by Pantera. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Seppo Kastinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, That Guy!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guy shoots in looking for a takedown. Kastinen tries to sprawl out of it but Guy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kastinen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Guy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kastinen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Guy is one step ahead there.
Guy landing some decent shots from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Guy makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Guy working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kastinen's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kastinen trying to control the position.

Kastinen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Guy throwing strikes from guard but Kastinen blocks nicely.
Kastinen wants to sweep here but Guy controlling him for the moment.
Guy postures up in Kastinen's guard and throws a big left but Kastinen blocks it.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Guy's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Guy chips away with some ground and pound.
Guy throws a big right hand that misses.
Guy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Guy wants to stand but Kastinen is controlling his posture from full guard.

Guy drops back looking for a leg! Kastinen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kastinen manages to kick Guy off! Guy jumps back into Kastinen's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kastinen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Guy's guard.

Guy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Kastinen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Kastinen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kastinen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kastinen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Guy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kastinen has managed to get both his arms back between Guy's legs - danger averted.

Guy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kastinen defends well.
Kastinen with a flurry of punches that miss.
Kastinen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Guy is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Guy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kastinen defends it easily.
Kastinen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kastinen scores with a couple of short elbows.
Guy tries to bench press Kastinen off him but Kastinen keeps the position.

Kastinen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Guy, who protects the arm well.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Guy is looking to reverse the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but That Guy will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Guy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kastinen circles away.
Guy takes one to the chin there.
Kastinen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kastinen cracks Guy with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Guy shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kastinen sprawls well. Kastinen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Guy gets slowly back to his feet.
Seppo Kastinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of That Guy.

Kastinen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Guy thinks about the counter body kick.
Guy takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kastinen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Guy.
Guy fails to land the takedown.
Kastinen misses with a wild combination.
Kastinen shoots in looking for a takedown but Guy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kastinen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And Guy tries to counter it with a takedown but Kastinen pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Guy fails to land the takedown.
Kastinen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Guy's waist but Guy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kastinen off to one side.
Guy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kastinen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Guy somewhat.

Kastinen throws a jab when Guy was well out of range.

Guy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kastinen swivels and escapes.

Guy dives in for a single leg takedown but Kastinen sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kastinen changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Kastinen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Guy can do to turn this around?
Kastinen throws out a loose jab but Guy uses good head movement to avoid it.
A little jabbing left from Guy on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Guy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kastinen pinned against the cage. Kastinen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kastinen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seppo Kastinen dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

and Kastinen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That Guy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kastinen loads up on a big right hand but Guy slips the punch.

Guy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kastinen.

Guy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kastinen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Guy wants to get back to full guard.
Kastinen lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Kastinen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Guy defends it well.

Kastinen winds up and cracks Guy with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Kastinen is looking for a kimura but Guy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kastinen to get the leverage.
Kastinen lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Guy tries to roll over but Kastinen keeps him under control.
Guy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kastinen is thwarting Guy's attempts to control the position.

Kastinen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kastinen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Guy has managed to free his arm - good work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Guy manages to get to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Seppo Kastinen showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kastinen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
