Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Clement Wright! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bryson The Freak! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A good leg kick by The Freak. The Freak throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wright moves into the clinch. The Freak gets control of Wright's arms and successfully pulls guard. The Freak will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The Freak wants to stand and escape but Wright is having none of it. The Freak is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Wright controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Wright seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down The Freak for as long as he can get away with. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. There's a bit of a scramble here and now The Freak is on top in guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Wright holds on and takes a little breather.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright has his feet on The Freak's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. The Freak shoots in looking for a takedown. Wright tries to sprawl out of it but The Freak keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wright manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Wright throws a big counter combination but The Freak scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. No luck for The Freak with that takedown attempt. The Freak throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The Freak fails with the takedown and Wright moves into the clinch. Clement Wright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryson The Freak. Wright pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Wright breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The Freak tries a head kick but it misses.
Wright tries to counter by clinching up but The Freak breaks away and moves out of range. A lazy left from The Freak finds it's target. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The Freak shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wright but Wright pushes him off and we're back to square one. The Freak fails with an attempt to clinch.
The Freak shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wright as he avoids it easily. Wright throws a big counter combination but The Freak scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. The Freak looks winded! The Freak shoots in looking for a takedown but Wright manages to keep the fight standing, pushing The Freak's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Wright tries to counter by moving into the clinch but The Freak manages to circle out of the way.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Freak tries to clinch but Wright moves away and Wright counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. The Freak shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wright sprawls well. Wright wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. The Freak gets slowly back to his feet. The Freak tries for a takedown but Wright sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Bryson The Freak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The Freak tries to clinch but Wright is having none of it. Wright throws a big counter combination but The Freak scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. We've been informed that The Freak has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. The Freak tries to clinch there but Wright circles away.
The Freak shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wright defends it nicely. Wright is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from The Freak.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wright throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. The Freak was covering up waiting for the punch and Wright finishes the takedown easily into guard. Wright really is a fat lump. Wright looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The Freak escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wright gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Clement Wright dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Wright closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Wright controlling the action here. The Freak strikes from the bottom but Wright passes into mount!

That's one minute gone in the round. Wright cracks The Freak with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The Freak wants to hold on but Wright pushes him away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wright with the ground and pound from mount. Wright controlling from the full mount. The Freak is working to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The Freak is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The Freak is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Wright tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The Freak in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The Freak tries to get back to half guard but can't. Wright controlling his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wright continues to stall. The Freak is working to get back to half guard.
Wright content just to control the position here. Wright is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that The Freak can do to turn this around?
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Wright prevents The Freak from getting the reversal. Wright tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wright has control of The Freak's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and The Freak regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Clement Wright dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Wright moves into the clinch. The Freak takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The Freak working hard to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. The Freak is looking to clinch. Wright appears to be looking for a big counter. Wright swats away the attempt to clinch by The Freak. The Freak wants to clinch up but Wright keeps it at a distance. A combination from The Freak does no damage. The Freak misses with a body kick. Wright drops down looking for a counter takedown but The Freak sprawls and moves away. The Freak tries to clinch up. The Freak misses with a combination
and Wright counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Wright lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear The Freak down.
The referee asks Wright politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Wright prefers to stall for the moment though. More hug and hope from Wright. Wright lands a decent elbow from side control. The Freak is looking for a sweep. The Freak pushes Wright away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wright gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The Freak takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wright is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but The Freak is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Wright working the head and body with strikes. Wright staying calm. The Freak is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Clement Wright showed his dominance in that final round. Well Wright has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
