Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elvin Mays! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Jane! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jane throws a body kick that misses. Mays showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jane.
Mays looking to score a takedown here. Jane is defending well but Mays drives through and ends up in Jane's guard. Mays controls from within his opponent's guard. Mays connects with a couple of short punches. Jane wants to stand and escape but Mays is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jane is on top in guard.
Mays is controlling Jane's posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mays looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jane is one step ahead there.

Jane can't keep his opponent in guard - Mays advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Ground and pound from Mays. Jane on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Mays is nestled in close to Jane, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Mays seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Mays not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Mays perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Jane has hold of Mays's hands but Mays slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Mays has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mays prevents Jane from standing back up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mays connects with a nice short shot to Jane's temple. Jane wants to sweep but Mays has passed to side control!

He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Elvin Mays overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
