Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dakota Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Maywho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Dakota Brooks has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dakota Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carl Maywho!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brooks gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Maywho looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Maywho tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Brooks just stands there and leans against the cage.
Brooks lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Maywho is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Maywho wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brooks has him pressed against the cage.
Brooks digs a right hand underneath Maywho's ribcage. Maywho let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Maywho is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Dakota Brooks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Maywho.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maywho is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Brooks is defending well for now.

Brooks is trying to trip Maywho. He has hold of a leg but Maywho is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Brooks persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Brooks gets to his feet - Maywho follows without any prompting.

Brooks changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maywho looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brooks slows the pace down.
Brooks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maywho on the ground.
The ground and pound from Brooks seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Brooks wants to control but Maywho is keeping him busy.
Maywho is trying to control Brooks's posture but Brooks avoids it.
Brooks scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Maywho to see if he's OK.
Brooks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maywho keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Maywho prevents Brooks from moving into mount.

Brooks stands up.

Brooks rushes Maywho and presses him up against the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Brooks has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Brooks works on Maywho's body with a couple of short punches.

Brooks is trying to trip Maywho. He has hold of a leg but Maywho is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Brooks persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Maywho is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Maywho is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Brooks has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Maywho keeping moving, preventing Brooks from controlling successfully.

Brooks is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Maywho is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Brooks is really struggling to control Maywho but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Brooks got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maywho has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brooks has managed to get both his arms back between Maywho's legs - danger averted.
Brooks trying to control but Maywho is working from the bottom.

Brooks decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Maywho, up you get!
Maywho has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Brooks is landing a low percentage of strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Brooks forces Maywho back against the cage and clinches.
Brooks utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Brooks breaks from the clinch.

Brooks has taken the fight to the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Maywho's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Brooks works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Maywho pushes Brooks off and gets back to his feet.
Brooks lands with a hook. Maywho tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dakota Brooks dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Maywho takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.


It looks like Carl Maywho has been cut.

Brooks moves into the clinch successfully.

Brooks breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Brooks is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maywho can do to turn this around?
Maywho tries a head kick but it misses.

Brooks lands a big uppercut and Maywho crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Maywho looks OK. Brooks waves Maywho back to his feet!


Maywho is rocked!
Dakota Brooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brooks darts in and clinches Maywho up against the cage.
Maywho is still on wobbly legs! Can Brooks finish him?
Brooks unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Maywho! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Brooks is unloading with more strikes now! Maywho drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dakota Brooks!
After winning the bout, Dakota Brooks thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
