Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Aaron Mcguire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michael Samir!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samir cracks a nice hook into Mcguire's ribs.
Mcguire takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Samir changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Samir clinches with his opponent.
Mcguire is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Samir is defending well for now.
Mcguire stalling.

Samir escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mcguire tries to close the distance and clinch up but Samir swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Samir gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mcguire is trying to break the clinch but Samir has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Samir manages to break the clinch.
Samir shoots in but Mcguire avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Samir seems keen to control Mcguire's posture.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Samir is working an open guard so Mcguire takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Samir tries for a takedown but Mcguire circles away easily

and Mcguire counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mcguire.

Michael Samir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Samir clinches.

Samir breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Samir shoots for a takedown but Mcguire saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Aaron Mcguire has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Samir.

Mcguire is looking to counter the offense by Samir and move into the clinch.

Samir blocks a head kick by Mcguire.
Mcguire takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Mcguire decides to pull guard.
Mcguire wants to sweep but no luck.

Mcguire escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Samir gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Samir is fighting to break Mcguire's control of his arms but Mcguire is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Mcguire is trying to hold Samir in close to prevent damage but Samir has managed to pass into half guard.

Samir trying to control from half guard but Mcguire is working away.
Mcguire wants to control but Samir is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Samir passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mcguire!
Samir avoids the attempt from Mcguire to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Samir tries to control but Mcguire wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Samir with the counter takedown but Mcguire avoids it easily.
Mcguire displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Samir.
Mcguire is looking to counter the offense by Samir and move into the clinch.

Samir drags the fight down to the ground.

Samir had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mcguire defends it easily.
Mcguire really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mcguire gets to his feet. Samir looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Samir has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mcguire scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Samir shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Aaron Mcguire has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Samir.

Samir is breathing heavily.

Samir closes the distance and pushes Mcguire back into the cage.

Mcguire breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Samir moves into range and clinches up with Mcguire.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Mcguire tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Samir avoids it.

Samir drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mcguire pulls his leg out and moves away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mcguire looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Samir closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mcguire is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Samir is defending well.

Samir fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mcguire avoids it really well and circles away.
Mcguire is looking to counter with head kicks.
Aaron Mcguire is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mcguire pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Samir walks into a stiff left hand from Mcguire.
Mcguire tries to clinch there but Samir circles away.
Samir is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Mcguire takes the fight into the clinch.

Mcguire gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Samir regains guard.
Mcguire has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Mcguire has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Samir is proving hard to escape from.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mcguire drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Samir dives on top into guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Samir missing with knees to the body.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Mcguire.
Samir dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Mcguire turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mcguire manages to end up in side control.
Samir is looking to reverse the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Samir keeps trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcguire working the ground and pound but Samir is defending the strikes.
Samir tries to improve position but can't.

Mcguire is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Samir is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mcguire tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcguire has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Aaron Mcguire overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Samir tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Samir is trying to get back to his feet but Mcguire has full control of the position and if anything, Samir has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Samir is really stuck here.
Samir is still trying to improve position.
Samir trying to control the position but Mcguire manages to sink in the hooks.
Mcguire trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Mcguire seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Samir's chin but Samir turns very nicely into Mcguire's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Samir.

Samir gets to his feet. Mcguire looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Aaron Mcguire is winning the standup battle so far.
Samir dives in and grabs Mcguire's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mcguire pushes down on Samir's head and hops out.
Mcguire throws a quick counter head kick but Samir was just out of range.
Samir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mcguire shoots in looking for a takedown. Samir tries to sprawl out of it but Mcguire keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Samir manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Samir misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mcguire seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcguire dodges the punch combination from Samir.
Mcguire lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Mcguire fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mcguire throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Samir avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Samir tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mcguire sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Samir somewhat.
As Samir tries to get set, Mcguire tries to push him back and clinch up but Samir manages to avoid the attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Aaron Mcguire showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Mcguire has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
