Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ward Jensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aaron Holdsworth!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Holdsworth throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jensen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Holdsworth is in Jensen's guard.
Jensen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Holdsworth wants to control from the top but Jensen keeps moving.
Holdsworth throws a strike but Jensen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Holdsworth looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Holdsworth has a closed guard, preventing Jensen from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jensen throws a big elbow that misses.
Holdsworth bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jensen's guard.

Holdsworth loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jensen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holdsworth throws a big elbow that misses.
Holdsworth must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Holdsworth throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jensen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Holdsworth throws a strike but Jensen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Jensen trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Holdsworth can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jensen with a flurry of punches that miss.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jensen is defended easily by Holdsworth.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Holdsworth fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jensen sprawls well initially but Holdsworth persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jensen avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Holdsworth.

Jensen is looking for a sweep. Holdsworth is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jensen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Holdsworth looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Holdsworth is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Jensen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Holdsworth trying to control from half guard but Jensen is working away.
Holdsworth seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Holdsworth throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Holdsworth wants to control but Jensen is keeping him busy.
Jensen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Holdsworth.
Holdsworth sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jensen defending well though.
Holdsworth seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Jensen controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Holdsworth not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Holdsworth working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.


Jensen is rocked!


It looks like Ward Jensen has been cut.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Holdsworth connects with a nice short shot to Jensen's temple.
Oh Jensen is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Holdsworth tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jensen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Holdsworth slips a nice elbow through Jensen's hands, connecting with Jensen's forehead.
Jensen wants to control but Holdsworth is keeping busy.
Holdsworth lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Jensen! More strikes land and this one is all over! Holdsworth jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aaron Holdsworth!
