Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arvydas Sabonis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rupert Ritzik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sabonis's entrance music is James Brown - Superbad. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Arvydas Sabonis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rupert Ritzik!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ritzik ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Sabonis dodges the punch combination from Ritzik.
Sabonis tries to bum rush Ritzik with a series of wild strikes but Ritzik uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sabonis backing away here, and Ritzik unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Ritzik takes a swing at Sabonis's ribcage but misses.
Ritzik has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Sabonis misses with a head kick.
Ritzik misses with a wild body shot.
A quick step to the side and Sabonis tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
A good leg kick by Sabonis.
Ritzik misses with the combination.
Ritzik doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sabonis fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


It looks like Rupert Ritzik has been cut.
Ritzik avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Ritzik shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Sabonis connects with a leg kick. Ritzik looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Sabonis lands a big head kick that sends Ritzik tumbling to the mat! Sabonis takes a step backwards and waves Ritzik back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Ritzik throws a right hand that Sabonis ducks under and follows up with a left that Sabonis also avoids with ease.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Ritzik counters with a crisp one two that drops Sabonis! Ritzik thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Sabonis to his feet! Sabonis is in big trouble!

Ritzik avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ritzik tries a quick counter leg kick but Sabonis is wise to it.
Good standup being displayed there by Ritzik as he connects with a hook.

Ritzik is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Sabonis rather than just go for the knockout.

Sabonis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

and Sabonis counters with a three punch combo that has Ritzik backing up. Ritzik nods at Sabonis to acknowledge the strikes.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sabonis takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Sabonis falls off balance throwing a combination
and Sabonis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sabonis is breathing heavily.
Sabonis scores with a jab. Ritzik acknowledges it with a nod of the head.


That has opened up Rupert Ritzik's cut even more.
Sabonis lands with a thumping leg kick.
Sabonis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nice shot lands for Sabonis.
An inside leg kick lands from Ritzik.
Sabonis doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ritzik comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
A big left from Ritzik misses.
Sabonis on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Sabonis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ritzik.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rupert Ritzik dominated that round.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ritzik fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sabonis has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Ritzik lands a right hook to the body.
Sabonis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ritzik was well out of range. Poor timing from Sabonis.
A combination from Ritzik does no damage.
Ritzik looks to land a combination. Sabonis sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

and Ritzik counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Sabonis takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Ritzik fails to land with a series of punches.
Ritzik throws a nice outside leg kick.
Sabonis staying out of range there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Oooooh!!! Ritzik has knocked Sabonis down with a huge combo! Ritzik steps away and waves a wobbly Sabonis back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Oh Sabonis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!


It looks like Arvydas Sabonis has been cut.
Rupert Ritzik seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sabonis get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Sabonis stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Ritzik runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rupert Ritzik!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Rupert Ritzik waved his t-shirt featuring Perkele!'s logo in front of the cameras.
