Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ragnar Sigurdsson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Fenix! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sigurdsson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sigurdsson connects with a body shot. Fenix on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
We've been told by Sigurdsson's head coaches at Abobomination Training $700 13 LEGIT elite coaches that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Sigurdsson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Sigurdsson duly obliges.
It looks like Marcus Fenix has been cut. Sigurdsson fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Fenix checks it well. Sigurdsson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Sigurdsson missing with a left hand there. Fenix was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Fenix throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Sigurdsson counters with a straight right hand. Sigurdsson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Sigurdsson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sigurdsson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sigurdsson moves out of range of the strikes. Donk. Sigurdsson catches Fenix right on the button with a cross. Fenix misses with a combination
and Sigurdsson counters with a nice uppercut. Sigurdsson catches Fenix with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! A nice leg kick lands there from Sigurdsson. Sigurdsson drops his shoulder and cracks Fenix with a huge uppercut! Fenix goes down! Can Sigurdsson finish him?
Fenix is rocked! Sigurdsson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Fenix is still in real trouble! Can Sigurdsson finish him?
That's one minute gone in the round. Sigurdsson trying to control the position from guard on top but Fenix is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fenix preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Fenix seems to have recovered his senses. Sigurdsson preventing the sweep. Sigurdsson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fenix swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sigurdsson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Sigurdsson trying to control but Fenix is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sigurdsson misses the jab. Fenix looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Sigurdsson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sigurdsson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Fenix bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sigurdsson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Fenix ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Sigurdsson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fenix. Fenix steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sigurdsson. Sigurdsson thuds his shin into the meat of Fenix's side. A big left from Fenix misses. Sigurdsson lands with an overhand left. Fenix swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fenix fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sigurdsson lands a high kick to the side of Fenix's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Sigurdsson dives into guard, looking to finish. Sigurdsson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Sigurdsson trying to control but Fenix is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sigurdsson postures up in Fenix's guard and throws a big left but Fenix blocks it. Sigurdsson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fenix works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sigurdsson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Fenix's head. Sigurdsson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Sigurdsson looking to sit in guard and control but Fenix gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sigurdsson wants to improve his position but instead Fenix has moved into half guard.
Sigurdsson has his hands clasped together around Fenix's back. He's all about the action. Sigurdsson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Fenix wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Sigurdsson uses the opportunity to regain full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ragnar Sigurdsson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Marcus Fenix's cut. That's time! Back to the action!

Sigurdsson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Marcus Fenix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sigurdsson slips a jab and a cross from Fenix.
A looping hook to the body misses from Fenix. Sigurdsson does a little dance to reset his feet. Sigurdsson throws a wild body kick that Fenix sees coming a mile off. Fenix displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sigurdsson throws out the jab. Sigurdsson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Fenix.
Fenix misses the body punch and Sigurdsson counters with a lovely straight right hand! Fenix lands a slapping body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sigurdsson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Sigurdsson blocks a jab. Fenix looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Sigurdsson appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Sigurdsson misses with a hook. Fenix moves away from the strike by Sigurdsson. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sigurdsson cracks Fenix with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fenix shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Fenix looks to land a right hand but Sigurdsson moved out of range. Fenix throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Sigurdsson staying out of range there. Sigurdsson slips a straight right by Fenix. Sigurdsson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Sigurdsson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fenix. Sigurdsson scores with a three punch combo!
Fenix takes one on the button. Sigurdsson ducks under a wild hook from Fenix. Sigurdsson throws a chopping leg kick but Fenix manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Sigurdsson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Fenix. Good standup being displayed there by Sigurdsson as he connects with a hook. Sigurdsson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fenix moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sigurdsson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Fenix.

Is there anything that Fenix can do to turn this around? Sigurdsson slips a jab from Fenix. Fenix on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Fenix lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sigurdsson backs up against the cage.

Sigurdsson tries to land a front kick but Fenix steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Sigurdsson moves into range and connects with a jab. Fenix throws a body punch but Sigurdsson moves out of range. Sigurdsson lands a head shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A combination from Fenix does no damage. Sigurdsson takes one to the side of the head.

Fenix darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Fenix walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Sigurdsson misses with a straight left. A big left from Sigurdsson misses. Fenix gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Sigurdsson gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
