PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Jabber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Hayway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Jabber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Hayway!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayway avoids the head kick by Jabber.
Hayway has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hayway there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hayway on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Jabber takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jabber throws a quick counter head kick but Hayway was just out of range.
Hayway ducks under a wild hook from Jabber.
Hayway lands a jab to the head.
Hayway cracks the inside of Jabber's front leg.
Hayway throws a right hand that Jabber ducks under and follows up with a left that Jabber also avoids with ease.
Jabber swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Jabber throws the kick towards the body but Hayway avoids it.
Jabber misses with a straight right.
Jim Jabber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hayway slips under a jab from Jabber.
Jabber moves out of range of the body kick from Hayway.
Hayway takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hayway avoids the body shot from Jabber.
Hayway moves into range and connects with a jab.
Jabber lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Hayway takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jabber stuffs the takedown attempt from Hayway. Hayway gets slowly back to his feet.
A left lands for Hayway.
Jabber looks to land a right hand but Hayway moved out of range.
Hayway throws a lazy head kick
and Jabber counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Jabber cracks Hayway with a good jab.


Hayway is rocked!
Jabber moves out of range as Hayway throws a body kick.
That kick from Jabber tenderised Hayway's leg. Hayway is trying to keep his angry face on.
Jabber fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Hayway is still on wobbly legs! Can Jabber finish him?
Hayway tries a low kick but Jabber avoids it.
Jabber looks to land a right hand but Hayway moved out of range.
Hayway doesn't manage to clinch there - Jabber circles away.
Hayway seems to have recovered his senses.
Hayway moves out of range of the leg kick from Jabber.
Jabber misses with a kick to the body.
Hayway tries to land a front kick but Jabber steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
We've been told by Jabber's head coaches at Lock and Roll Grappling Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jabber moves into range and clinches up with Hayway.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jabber wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hayway is looking for a takedown.
Hayway misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jabber.
Jabber is trying to force a seperation but Hayway has the dominant position.
Jabber lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Hayway keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jabber's efforts to push away.
Jabber is trying to force a seperation but Hayway has the dominant position.

Hayway decides to pull guard.
Jabber wants to control from the top but Hayway keeps moving.

Hayway has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jabber can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jabber throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hayway works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hayway is trying to control the position but Jabber postures up.
Jabber preventing the sweep.

Jabber has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hayway to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Jabber is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hayway pulls down on the head and he's put Jabber to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nathan Hayway!
