Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcin Elsner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marius Budawalski! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, David Schapiro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Budawalski scores with the left hand. Elsner knows he should have avoided that one. Budawalski scores with a nice right hand.
A jab-cross combination lands for Budawalski and sends Elsner crashing to the mat! Budawalski follows him down to the mat - Elsner regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Budawalski is keen to just control but Elsner is a slippery customer. Budawalski seems to be looking for submissions.
Elsner tries to roll over but Budawalski keeps him under control. Budawalski wants to stand but Elsner has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Elsner is looking to improve his position.
Budawalski wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Budawalski is looking for a kimura here.
Budawalski wants to pass the guard but Elsner is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Budawalski is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Elsner regains full guard. Nicely done. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Budawalski trying to control the position from guard on top but Elsner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Budawalski working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Budawalski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Elsner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Budawalski stands up from guard. Let's bang! Good exchange - Budawalski coming out on top. Budawalski connects with a single shot there. Elsner takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
It looks like Marcin Elsner has been cut. Elsner takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Budawalski lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Elsner takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Elsner is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Elsner ducks straight into an uppercut from Budawalski and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Elsner manages to regain guard straight away.
Oh Elsner is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Budawalski drops back looking for a leg! Elsner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Elsner manages to kick Budawalski off! Budawalski jumps back into Elsner's guard. Elsner seems to have got his legs back now. Budawalski thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Budawalski stands up and waves to Elsner to follow him. Elsner takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Oh, that's a big right hand from Budawalski and Elsner goes tumbling to the canvas! Budawalski follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard. Budawalski decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Budawalski is looking to clinch but Elsner is avoiding it.
Budawalski lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Budawalski lands with a right hand. Budawalski drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Elsner's head, knocking him out cold! Budawalski is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Marius Budawalski!
