Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Belcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rekis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rekis has chosen AC/DC - Thunderstruck as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Belcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rekis!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Belcher.
Rekis is working to avoid the ground and pound but Belcher connects with a decent elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rekis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Belcher wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Rekis parries the strikes from Belcher easily there. Belcher is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rekis to escape.
Belcher in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Belcher lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rekis down.
Belcher sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rekis is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Belcher has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rekis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Belcher is working away from the top position though.
Belcher looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rekis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Belcher working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Rekis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rekis is pushing Belcher up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Rekis working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Belcher drops back looking for a leg! Rekis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rekis manages to kick Belcher off! Belcher jumps back into Rekis's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jake Belcher is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Belcher accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
John Rekis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Belcher, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
