Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jason shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Gomez actively working from the bottom here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jason tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Gomez tries to lock up and control but Jason gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomez is wriggling around trying to escape.

Jason tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Gomez is desperately trying to improve his position but Jason has a good base and remains in mount.
Jason postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gomez looks a forlorn figure.

Jason really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gomez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jason is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gomez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gomez shrugs it off.

Jason shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gomez's guard.

Jason is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Gomez tries to roll over but Jason keeps him under control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gomez has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Jason escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Jason!

A lull in the action here as Jason stalls from top position.
Gomez on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jason is working Gomez over with some ground and pound from side control.

Jason wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gomez, who protects the arm well.
A lull in the action here.
Jason tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Jason rushes Gomez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Jason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Jason thuds a left hand into Gomez's body.
Jason throws a sloppy head kick and Gomez moves out of range easily.

Jason fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gomez, pushing him back against the cage.
Jason jumps guard but Gomez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Gomez looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Gomez tries for a takedown. No joy.

Jason wants the takedown. Gomez is fighting it off but Jason persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gomez's guard against the cage.
Jason stays in close to Gomez's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jason is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Gomez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jason pulls his head out easily.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jason takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Well, if Jason is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jason wants to stand but Gomez has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jason trying to pass the guard but Gomez defending well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jason feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jason postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Gomez has a closed guard, preventing Jason from standing up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jason controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Jason passes into side control, despite Gomez's attempt to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mark Jason comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jason has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
