The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lynn looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

and Bates counters with a shoot takedown. Lynn fights it but they end up in guard.

Lynn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bates's guard.
Bates is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bates working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lynn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lynn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lynn is pushing down on Bates's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bates is fighting to maintain full guard but Lynn has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lynn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bates has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lynn has managed to get both his arms back between Bates's legs - danger averted.
Bates is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Lynn frees his head nicely. Oh but Bates has switched to an armbar! Lynn is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
